ASMC is pleased to announce that Scott Welch has accepted the position of Social Work Coordinator for the agency, effective October 22, 2017.
Among many other job duties, Scott will be responsible for providing in-service training and consultation to our staff regarding human rights and confidentiality. He will also serve as the liaison between the agency and our Human Rights Committee, scheduling meetings, training new committee members, recording and distribution of minutes etc. Additionally, he will assume a major role in Admission and Discharge process, chairing the Admission/Discharge committee, and assisting families through the process of obtaining Medicaid, Social Security benefits etc. as well as proving information and referrals to other services in the community for people who call the agency needing help to navigate the maize of obtaining services for a family member.
Scott graduated from Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C. with a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies and also has a Master’s Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to accepting this position, he served as a Direct Support Professional and Program Coordinator for ASMC. He is married with three wonderful children, loves to read and is an avid college football fan. Born in Florida, he is a Florida Gators fan for life although he and his family have lived in NC since he was five years old.
Scott brings experience and a proven track record of success in the Human Service field, which will be invaluable in meeting the agency’s goals and objectives. While welcoming Scott we would like to thank his predecessor, Catherine Bridges, who served in the position for four years. Catherine left some big shoes for Scott to fill and her dedication to her work during her time with us is deeply appreciated.
